Question Types & Advanced Settings

Eventene provides a variety of question types to help you collect structured information from participants. This article explains the available question types and how to configure them.

Available Question Types

When creating a question, you can choose from the following types:

  • Multiple Choice – select from a list of options
  • Text – single-line text input
  • Comment – multi-line text input
  • Number – numeric input
  • Yes / No – binary choice
  • True / False – binary choice
  • Email – validated email format
  • Phone – phone number input
  • Address – structured address fields
  • Date / Time – date and/or time selection
  • Information Only – display text without collecting a response

Each type is designed for a specific kind of data collection. Choose the type that best matches the information you need.

Multiple Choice Options

Multiple choice questions support several configurations:

  • Single selection – participants choose one option
  • Multiple selection – participants can choose more than one option
  • Ranked selection – participants rank their choices in order

When using multiple choice:

  • Enter clear, concise options
  • Limit the number of choices to avoid overwhelming participants
  • Use ranking only when prioritization is important

Number Input Settings

Number questions can be configured to accept:

  • Whole numbers (e.g. 1, 2, 3)
  • Decimal values (e.g. 1.5, 2.75)

Use numeric validation when collecting quantities, counts, or measurements.

Date and Time Settings

Date and time questions allow you to control what participants provide:

  • Date only
  • Time only
  • Both date and time

Choose the level of detail based on your needs.

Required Questions

Each question can be marked as required.

  • Required questions must be answered before participants can complete their responses
  • Optional questions can be skipped

Use required questions sparingly to avoid friction during registration.

Internal Name vs Display Text

Each question includes:

  • Internal name – used for reporting and data tracking
  • Display text – shown to participants

Use clear and consistent naming for internal fields to make reporting easier later.

Attendance-Based Question Logic

Questions can be shown based on a participant’s attendance status.

  • Ask certain questions only if attending
  • Ask different questions if not attending

This allows you to tailor the experience and collect more relevant information.

Best Practices

  • Keep questions focused and easy to answer
  • Avoid collecting unnecessary information
  • Use consistent naming conventions
  • Test your questions before publishing your program
