With this release, we fixed a few issues and made a few minor improvements in our Assignments features.


Web App

  • Sections
    • Added a tile to show the total number of Spots for the Section
    • Renamed "Items" to "Places" on the Summary pages
  • Assign
    • New Select Mode
      • The system now supports single and multi selection of People using a mouse or touchscreen

        • View Details of People

          • Clicking a single Person with no prior selections will open the side panel with that Person's Details

        • Select a Single Person

          • Desktop users with a mouse can press CTRL / CMD + left click to select a single Person

          • Touch screen users on tablets and mobile devices can select a single Person with a long press on the Person (> 20 ms)
        • Selecting Multiple People

          • Once a single Person is selected, users can simply click or touch additional People without having to use the CTRL/CMD key

          • As users multi-select People, the blue action bar appears counting the number of selected People

          • To unselect the selected People, users can click the "X" on the blue action bar

    • Drag/Drop Assignments
      • When a user drags a Person over a Place, if it is already full (i.e. no remaining spots) the system will now gray out the entire Place as a visual indicator it not a viable drop target.
    • New Assignments Setup Page
      • The Assignment Setup page highlights that the Assignments page functions only with Activities that contain both a Group and an Activity.
      • Users will now see an Assignment Setup page to assist in configuring the Assignments page by allowing the user to select or create a Group and Section directly in Assignments.

    • New View Modes
      • The Assign pages now provides two viewing modes (Tiles & Columns) that optimize the sizing and layout to view the Places and their assigned People. 
      • Tiles View
        • The default view in Assignments is Tiles View, which represents a compact view of the Places associated with the selected Activity. Tiles View is optimized for displaying many Places at once, where each Place shows 3 to 4 assigned People. Users can switch to Tiles View by selecting the Tiles icon, as shown in the following diagram.

      • Columns View
        • Columns View represents an expanded view of the Places associated with the selected Activity, optimized for viewing all the People assigned to a single Place by scrolling down the page. Users can scroll the Places by using the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the screen. Some web browsers also support horizontal scrolling by pressing the SHIFT key down while scrolling the mouse wheel.  Users can switch to Columns View by selecting the Columns icon, as shown in the following diagram.

  • New Categories in the Unassigned People List
    • The Unassigned People section now shows everyone invited to the Activity, categorized by their attending status in the following order.
      • Attending
      • Not Attending
      • Undecided
  • Other Minor Improvements
    • Replaced the sliding dropdown control with a pop-up style on the action menus
    • Fixed several issues with View Details for People and Places
    • Fixed an issue where the default Spots were not appearing correctly on the Assign pages.
